Anxiety is a natural response to stress, but for some, it becomes overwhelming and persistent, interfering with daily life and well-being. Panic disorder, a more acute form of anxiety, is characterised by sudden and intense episodes of fear, often accompanied by physical symptoms.

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health conditions globally, affecting 1 in 8 people, with women nearly twice as likely to experience anxiety as men. Despite the prevalence, up to 40% of individuals report that conventional treatments such as medication or therapy alone do not fully resolve their symptoms.

Symptoms

EXCESSIVE WORRY OR FEAR THAT FEELS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL

RESTLESSNESS OR FEELING "ON EDGE"

MUSCLE TENSION OR HEADACHES

SLEEP DISTURBANCES, INCLUDING DIFFICULTY FALLING OR STAYING ASLEEP

HEART PALPITATIONS, SWEATING, OR SHORTNESS OF BREATH (ESPECIALLY DURING PANIC ATTACKS)

GASTROINTESTINAL SYMPTOMS, SUCH AS NAUSEA OR UPSET STOMACH

AVOIDANCE OF SITUATIONS THAT TRIGGER ANXIETY

The conventional approach

Conventional treatment for anxiety often includes anti-anxiety medications (e.g., benzodiazepines or SSRIs) and talking therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). While these can provide temporary relief or coping strategies, they may not address the underlying factors contributing to chronic anxiety or panic attacks.

Our approach

We take a root-cause approach to anxiety and panic disorders, recognising that multiple factors—biochemical, environmental, and lifestyle-related—can contribute to these conditions. Our approach includes:

BALANCING ADRENAL FUNCTION

Supporting the body's stress response by assessing and balancing adrenal function.

INVESTIGATING NUTRIENT DEFICIENCIES

Identifying and addressing nutrient deficiencies (e.g., magnesium, zinc, B vitamins) that affect neurotransmitter production.

OPTIMISING GUT-BRAIN HEALTH

Promoting gut health to optimise the gut-brain axis, which plays a crucial role in regulating anxiety.

INVESTIGATING IMBALANCES

Investigating imbalances in neurotransmitters such as GABA, serotonin, and dopamine.

ADDRESSING INFLAMMATION & OXIDATIVE STRESS

Addressing inflammation and oxidative stress, which can exacerbate anxiety symptoms.

PERSONALISED NUTRITION

Personalised nutrition, mindfulness techniques, and lifestyle strategies to calm the nervous system and build resilience.

This comprehensive approach not only helps to alleviate symptoms but also empowers you to take control of your mental well-being.
